Is leia supposed to have a big role in ep. 8?

I don't think her's is to be a big role this time around but do suspect Leia's role has been expanded upon for a little more involvement than her previous breif part in The Force Awakens.

Obviously Mark Hamill goes from a virtual blink and you miss him cameo to a substantial co-star support role this time.

I figure it's the new cast like Adam, Daisy, John & Oscar that get the more meatier part's for greater character development.

No, she isn't. She appears quite a bit at the start of the movie and then is written out till the end. She is reunited with Luke and does survive, unless they change this to accommodate Carrie Fisher passing.
