Constant switching between flashbacks and present :(

I don't get this new infatuation with constantly jumping between flashbacks and the present time in movies. At least do it right. In this movie it was excessive and obnoxious to the point where I turned it off early. It was too hard to follow. They did this in Gone Girl and I didn't catch on to what was going on until the second time watching it. But even Gone Girl did it much better. It was also done okay in North Country. You need to keep the audience's attention the first time watching. With this movie, A girl like her, I lost interest because I wanted it to get to the point.
