If this was the last ever episode

If this was the last ever episode thats ok i think its implied mums not coming back but it seems a wasted opportunity as they have a 3 men and a baby sitcom situation set up with maron gus and the bookstore guy plus what ever whacky townsfolk and visiting comedians turn up .

Shay not returning is an interesting thought. IIRC that concept was done somewhere else recently which escapes my memory ATM. Mark would be a fish out of water in a small town like that so I could see it working, though I'm not sure how many cameos from visiting comedians would be likely. That and a career narcissist having to care for a child. =8^O One aspect of successful recovery is a need to leave one's playmates and playgrounds. I know in the 80's that it was exceptionally hard to recover in Hollywood because the whole industry was rife with vice, but now there is a solid recovery base, although a lot of people struggle with the possibility of their careers taking a hit, plus their entourages are often full of parasites that do not have the host's best interests in mind. If the show continues, it would work for me if Mark stays in the small town to get a solid year under his belt before making the decision to get back into the entertainment game. recovery is interesting because quite often it is those people/places/things that one is most reluctant to give up which turn out to be the first things that need to go. A geographic works as long as one works the program rather than simply letting the absence of temptation be their source of strength.

There is no "if", per Maron's most recent podcast it is the last ones ever. I don't think "whacky" is his forte. We can all imagine our own version of what happens next.

He ends it on his terms. Have to respect that

Ah ah why do you think she's not coming back.

I was more worried at Marc's sudden conflicted expression, I hope it was not the realization that once he got what he thought he wanted, it still wasn't it.

Mark was working the PEN (perfect, easy, now) program pretty hard. Most addicts want a quick fix and a lack of patience is what drives most back out. I was surprised that the LA sponsor didn't mention the no major changes in the first year rule before Mark took off on the geographical. What I took away is that Mark still has no clue what he wants, only that what he has now isn't it.
