Dreadful sound engineering

I was completely in the mood to watch a Joan Rivers gig tonight, and was drawn immediately to this one.
But the sound quality was abysmal: sharp, tinny, indistinct, indecipherable, and polluted with audience sounds. If you can't hear what she's saying, why bother at all?
Such a waste; I know it comes originally from a TV show, but Showtime -ever the cheapskate- couldn't extend itself just a little bit and remix the performance to make it a pleasure to listen to? Clearly not.
I'm sure the company man who might have authorised a workable remix will be at her funeral service looking falsely contrite, and then head afterwards to the bank.
