After a few minutes of watching this I began to think the son was not right in the head. I know he was older playing younger and the dialog was crap but he seemed a bit slow in some scenes. Horrible movie, terrible acting and a waste of time.
If he is, it's the first time I've ever wanted to smack a special needs kid. I kept expecting the father to tell the kid to STFU or reach into the backseat and punch the little b*tch!
Indeed, the entire family was a special needs family. In the novel, husband and wife are brother and sister and she gave birth to the kid when she was 12 years old. The film depicts this pretty accurately as the actress is about 30 and the son is about 18.
I think this movie is a tremendously positive step forward for the acceptance of special needs. Presenting them in situations of importance and giving them meaningful tasks to complete which actually helps other humans. In this era of embracing diversity, 500 MPH Storm will have to be remembered as a major contributor to the advancement of society as a whole.
a bunch of us were watching this and we all started to imitate the kid. Dad how far, Dad. Dad whats that Dad. Dad you should know this, Dad. Dad.
when she maks that sandwich and he says "It's stale" she says "the electricity hasn't been out that long." what is this? is the lunch meat SOUR or the bread STALE? or what.
