Is every episode going to be the same?

I get he is somewhat of a scumbag and has crazy clients. But common, he gets a really expensive fish and lets it rot rather than pay back a loan shark. He wins a huge amount at the casino, but gives it away at an auction. So the mayor of a town can basically have your car destroyed, have you molested whenever he wants and never has to worry....geez maybe Governor Christie doesn't have anything to worry about. He keeps going to a prostitute that he can't afford that really does nothing for him? Yes, its a TV show and Greg Kinnear is good, but it is getting dumb already, only three episodes in. The secretary is about they only solid part worth watching it for right now.

I agree. It's tedious. It's an insult to people who tune in after long days at work at jobs that they can't afford to quit while he walks away from his debts. The actors and production values are good. The writing holds together. But the plots make Two and a Half Men look uplifting. It does serve the purpose of making me feel like I was right to lock my ex out of the house at 2am 25 years ago. Will I be wise enough to quit this show too?
I don't know. It does have that moth-to-flame quality. But not enough to keep the suits happy with the ratings. So, fortunately, we will soon be put out of our misery of addictive watching.

Leanne is smoking hot and her breasts well all i can say is they are *beep* big ;)

Leanne's the secretary, not the call girl.

Exactly why i said her breasts are big ;). The call girl doesnt even had bog breasts.

if you saw last thursday when Leanne supposly showed her boobs in a bra to her bf is proof enough lol

I agree that they are rubbing his charms and bad luck pretty thick and repetitively. But the show is showing some growth and his cases are intriguing to me. I'm not bored yet.

In an interesting twist Rake (US) premiered the episode about the cancer scammer before it aired this week in Rake (AU). All US shows have been based on previous AU episodes. Wonder when the US version will get the beastiality 3-way episode? FWIW, as has been mentioned here in other threads, the US version would be better suited both on a) a premium pay channel where he could really let loose with the addiction stuff, and b) with a rougher character, such as Dennis Leary, or maybe even Michael Keaton. I wonder if Leary was considered for the role since Peter Tolan, who is co-producing/developing this worked with him both on Rescue Me and The Job. The thing is, Roxburgh in (AU) just too tough an act to follow, sort of like finding another actor to do the part of Walter White, Vic Mackey, or Ari Gold. Roxburgh's portrayal as "the invisible man" last week would have gotten him the Emmy for sure.

To be fair though, The AU story had no happy ending. Yes she won the case, and toddled off home with her kids in the US version.

The AU version has the woman winning the case, she then goes home and we then see her going back to play the pokies.
The DSS then turn up and her children are removed from her care!

Isn't Leary making a show about emergency services or some such at the moment?

The new show is called Sirens and it is about a small group of EMT drivers in Chicago. It has the sophmoric humor of Rescue Me without any of the clever or meaningful stuff on top, basically a half hour of talking about porn and rubbing one out. I will give it another look based on its pedigree, but it wasn't impressive on its own. I guess it used to be that with limited channels, some shows had pilots that were shot but never shwon. Now, with all the different wys to watch, anything that was ever shot gets a chance before an audience.

Yeah, that was a bummer of an ending, but part of me was thinking that it was the older kid who called it in. Wonder how long it will be before Scarlett has another blueberry muffin.

Sirens is a remake of a British show which starred Richard Madden who went on to play Robb Stark in Game of Thrones. Only 6 episodes were made, possibly due to Madden and Kayvan Novak being lured elsewhere.

I've only seen one episode of the US remake, and not yet seen the extra "deep and meaningful" in the original.
