Having a love/hate relationship w this show....

I really like the actors and I love that the storylines take a fun spin on the cases, but the non-stop sex and sex-talk is getting really boring and shallow as is the poor communication w the ex-wife & son and the whole ex-prostitute storyline is boring. It's possible to have a very fun conversation w/o referring to sex, in fact there's a big world of great things to say that are just as humorous and more interesting. And it's possible for characters to have sex w/o making us watch it. And it's possible for characters to have interesting communication as a family w/o shouting and no listening.

Did you miss the part where they talk about the protagonist being a dysfunctional sex/coke/gambling addict who also drinks a wee bit too much and defends the indefensible? If anything, this version is tame compared to the outrage caused on the AU version.

I like everyone except Kinnear but I agree it could be a good spin on the classic lawyer court drama if they stuck with the fun cases. There's too much of his screwed up life (not as if it was interesting), and the sex thing just comes off as an over-the-top desperate attempt by network tv to do cable without being able to use any of the words that are used daily in the English language, or show anything but naked shoulders. Its ridiculous and unnecessary.

The way women are treated by the show is kind of troubling as well. It's quite one thing for the character to treat women as objects but the show should be better at it.

The way they keep using the statutory rape plot of his son's teacher randomly sleeping with teenagers as a comedy plot is alarming.
