Overall I thought it was pretty good, funny, but I thought it would be a bit more zany than it was. I like Greg Kinnear, he really killed it in We Were Soldiers as Snake Crandall, but the greatest character IMO in this show was Leanne (Tara Summers). She was hilarious, the source of most the laughs, and Summers is gorgeous IMO. Didn't care for the mayor or wife, but Ben was pretty awesome. Totally nailed it as an insecure guy who had a rough time with a pretty horrid father.

Unfortunately Rake is now relegated to the dust bin of other potentially awesome shows such as The Riches, Pepper Dennis and Firefly. I wish studios would give shows at least two guaranteed seasons before they decide to cancel. Even really highly rated long running shows like Seinfeld and Frasier were pretty awkward during S1. I love Frasier, but IMO most of the first few episodes of Seinfeld were almost unwatchable. Glad I stuck with it, I wish the studios would.

Networks don't give shows a second chance anymore. Shows like Seinfeld and Frasier wouldn't last today because they get cancelled immediately if they are not an instant hit. I would have liked to see more of this show and Surviving Jack.
BTW, The Riches was a great show too. They should have kept Huff going also.
