So after seeing this movie, I was curious as to if anyone's thoughts about Anna have changed?
Personally, I think I'm a little too bias to ever have my views or feelings about Anna change but I did feel so awful for her son, Daniel. I always got the vibe that he felt so sad and embarrassed for his mother, and that he tried his hardest to protect her--mainly from herself really--but Anna, I still think she used and abused people as much as she allowed herself to be used and abused.
Anna Nicole was trying to get Paw Paw to say he wanted to take care of her and Danny (she was recording him)...they were laying in bed....she then pulled hertop down and said something like "You've missed your two rosebuds, haven't you?" and then was putting her breasts in his face.
That's not what I remember actually happening.
I'd much rather regret something I'd done rather than something I was too afraid to do.-Bateman
Actually I have seen in more than one documentary on ANS that she did actually do that to him, but it was more like "if you don't want to lose your rosebuds, you will sign these papers ..."
Yes and no. On the one hand, I always thought she was an airhead girl that had a screwed up life. I still do.
On the other hand, there wasn't a clear cause of what screwed up life. Usually, you have a druggie/alcoholic parents, sexual abuse. Something. But it didn't seem like there was that in her background. Other than, maybe, the absent father and a less than caring mother. But, of course, that could have just been the writing of the movie, that chose to focus on the spectacle of her life instead why it was a spectacle.
That said, it's easy to see how how she got screwed up. Teenage mother, kicked out by her mother needing to support her kid. So she turned to stripping and drugs needed to do it. But what I found surprising is that she had ample opportunity to straighten out her life, but she didn't. And It seemed to me that was probably because she didn't have any kind of support system to help her do it. As you said, she was surrounded by users and abusers and people who didn't care.
Danny maybe could help but he was too young and screwed up by her to be much help.
The most surprising, though, was the old man she married. It has be portrayed that he was practically comatose during their relationship. I was suprisedg that he was very coherent during it.

There was a line at the very end of the movie where Anna is narrating in which she implies that she was sexually abused by her dad. It was something to the effect of, "Sure, I could blame (whoever) for my life, or my father for coming into my room at night." Something like that. I'm sorry, I can't remember the exact words, but that was what I took away from it.
I believe she said something about her father going into other homes, maybe? I can't remember the exact phrasing, but the gist of it to me was that her father played around on her mother and NOT that he abused Anna/Vickie. Her five half-siblings are from him, so that makes perfect sense to me!
