3/10. Here's why / Esta es la razón:
ESCOBAR: PARADISE LOST is similar to LAST KING OF SCOTLAND: A young man who meets a historical figure during a time where everyone thought he was kind and, in time, realizes how evil he really is. This movie pales in comparison because: A) While Pablo Escobar wasn't innocent, he was never as sadistic as Idi Amin, which is why the movie isn't suspenseful. B) The tone is all over the place. By the time it becomes a crime thriller, it's too late because the rest of the movie was too boring. Maybe I would've given it a higher grade if it had ended with that shot of NICK's face while MARÍA yelled "NICK, run!" Unfortunately, it's followed by an unnecessary flashback. If the point was to contrast how happy NICK used to be, why not show him being happy with MARÍA instead of his brother? If it was meant to represent NICK reuniting with his brother in Heaven, then MARÍA should've been there too. I hope it didn't mean that, because even CHUCK E. CHEESE would've it was too cheesy. Get it? Wait, was that joke cheesy too? Dammit!

ESCOBAR es parecida a EL ÚLTIMO REY DE ESCOCIA: un joven que conoce a una figura histórica durante una época en la que todos pensaban que él era bondadoso y, con el tiempo, se da cuenta cuán malvado realmente es. Esta película no se compara con esa porque: A) Aunque Pablo Escobar no era inocente, nunca fue tan sádico como Idi Amin, por lo que la película no genera suspenso. B) El tono es un enredo. Para cuando se convierte en un thriller criminal, es demasiado tarde porque el resto de la película fue demasiado aburrida. Quizás le hubiera puesto una nota mayor si hubiera terminado con esa toma de la cara de NICK cuando MARÍA gritó «¡NICK, corre!». Desafortunadamente, la sigue un flashback innecesario. Si el punto era contrastar cuán feliz NICK solía ser, ¿por qué no mostrarlo siendo feliz con MARÍA en vez de su hermano? Si se suponía que representara a NICK reuniéndose con su hermano en el Cielo, entonces MARÍA debería haber estado ahí también. Espero que no haya significado eso, porque hasta CHUCK E. CHEESE lo hubiera encontrado cursi. ¿Entienden? «Cursi»=«Cheesy»=«Con queso». Momento, ¿esa broma también fue cursi? ¡Maldición!
