it was to avoid having to go to the station and doing paperwork. It's doubtful they would've just gave it to her then and there. She just wanted to get away as fast as possible.
Yes! For sure, I hadn't even thought of that....I'd thought of a second reason which might have popped into her mind, which is to make her seem a trustworthy person to the police. The kind of person who would pass up the cash might get the benefit of the doubt if there was any other potential lingering suspicion...

No, I agree, but what movies of this sort DO show scenes of people filling out lots of paperwork post-crime? Usually, it's a point that can legitimately be brought up, but it's not rare in any case....it's just one of those things you just have to let go of. I'm more concerned when characters have abrupt, convenient personality shifts, in order to advance a given plotline (not saying this was a problem in this particular film, just saying in general...)
