6/10 Plot holes. Spoilers

I thought this film had such a stupid ending. The police would have investigated why their car at the motel was called to a fake accident, 5 mins later there is a triple murder at the motel. They would have just tracied the number of who made the call.

Where is she?

reply

And the money. Why didn't she take all of the money. Only 50K? What a fool.

reply

And why did she lie to the cop about the $2300 in small bills not being hers, it was her savings that were stolen when her place got trashed, it just made her look very suspicious and her prints would be on every single bill. Are we supposed to believe that the entire police dept. is that stupid? They would never have allowed her to just up and leave the scene like that, a massive crime scene that would spur a whole lot of questions in real life, they didn't even have her fill out a report or inquire where she was going.

reply

I'd say it was to avoid having to go to the station and doing paperwork. It's doubtful they would've just gave it to her then and there. She just wanted to get away as fast as possible.

True that the 2300$ would have her prints, but she had been handeling the money during the whole thing, so it wasn't beyond denying. Also I doubt the police would take prints off the money in any case.

I do think it would've been better if she had gone to the station with the kid and the turtle/money to retreive the 2300$ and 'hid on plain sight'.

Also she took only the 50k$(or whatever sum) she hid before to not take any risks anymore and/or because of exhaustion.

Not the best script, when you have to try to rationalize it, but decent movie 6/10.

Yes! For sure, I hadn't even thought of that....I'd thought of a second reason which might have popped into her mind, which is to make her seem a trustworthy person to the police. The kind of person who would pass up the cash might get the benefit of the doubt if there was any other potential lingering suspicion...

No, I agree, but what movies of this sort DO show scenes of people filling out lots of paperwork post-crime? Usually, it's a point that can legitimately be brought up, but it's not rare in any case....it's just one of those things you just have to let go of. I'm more concerned when characters have abrupt, convenient personality shifts, in order to advance a given plotline (not saying this was a problem in this particular film, just saying in general...)

reply

She took more than 50k. Maybe 200k. 50k was one stack, I think she had at least 4.

Perhaps. I thought the Gangster had said that it was 50K light. Maybe he didn't know what the count was supposed to be and was testing the Russian.

reply

I could be wrong but I'm 90% sure Topo's half would be in his car and she could just have taken that... It would make sense because there was definitely more than the 50k at the bottom of that turtle's tank.

Biggest problem is that the hit man leaves a cop alive, who stole from him, and who saw him kill his wife. The writer is a pure fool

Yeah, when they left the cop alive and handcuffed, it was way too obvious that he was gonna be a factor later in the movie.

reply

He left the co alive to take the fall for the mess at his house. His wife was shot with his own gun, and he was tied up. He just bought an expensive TV that was in his abandoned police vehicle. How is a cop going to explain all that? Plus running away after he got loose would make him look even more suspicious.

So Chloe knowing about the mess at the cop's house, the TV, and the fact that he shot these two bad guys gave her incentive to not be greedy and take a mall unnoticeable amount of money and let all that, Topo's half in his car, the smoking gun in the cop's hand speak for itself with nothing pointing to her.

I agree with your post, but I think she denied the bills being hers so that she wouldn't appear greedy and to avoid any further questions.

If she claims it, the cop then starts asking questions as to why it was with the other money etc. She denies it and she just walks away.

Also money itself would have loads of fingers prints on it, as well as the two gangsters. I doubt they'd test it anyway, as to them the case was all but sewn up as purplerick explained it.

When Chloe goes to Billy's house at night, by then Billy had already discovered the stash of cash (it's not in the car later the same night), right?

So, a police officer with one million stolen dollars under his bed is told that someone wants to buy the car from where he took the money. And he just says "nope, sorry" and goes back to sleep.

Riiight.
