Mavis is Annoying

I couldn't understand at first why I didn't like this movie that much and then it clicked.

In HT1, Mavis was dying to get out into the human world. She was unsatisfied and unhappy with her current lifestyle. So flash forward to HT2, and everyone, including her husband and child, are happy but she makes this arbitrary decision that she wants to move where Johnny's from without even consulting with her husband? That's an awful partnership. Everyone's going to be miserable but her, and then, she was willing to subject her child to her condescending mother in law. Yeah, that's better for the boy.

Still a child, she just had a baby.

I thought she did consult her husband just not on scene? I remember a scene where the Drac was talking to the husband and he said something like, "yeah, we've been talking about it" (it meaning moving) maybe I'm wrong and just imagined the whole thing?

reply

"They talked about it" means she talked and he has to go along.

they basically destroy the character of Mavis.

But the reason for that was because they didn't have time to properly set everything up, they added SO much stuff into the movie that everything feels short.
they had like 4 storylines going and none of them properly set up. I think, well thast how i feel.

I mean look at the grandpa at the end, that comes out of nowhere and changes the feel of the movie and the ending becomes a mess.

but yeah, Mavis wanted to travel and she wanted to be free and travel the world, I guess it is implied that Mavis and Jonny do travel before they get married but she becomes pretty annoying

I agree to an extent...she is a new mother and overprotectivness is expected.
But they shouldn't have made this part about them becoming parents. Waaaay too rushed (they skipped 7 years in between the movies).
2nd part should've been about Johnny and Mavis exploring the world and getting into trouble and then at the end (or at the beginning of the 3rd) find out she is pregnant. Prolongs the franchise and still keeps it simple (for the kids)

Same here actually. I'm currently watching hotel Transylvania 4 Transformania and so far at first I really liked how it was going, then as soon as like Mavis decided to hear the conversation drac and Erica having about his retirement she decided to tell Johnny and Johnny told drac . And later on in the movie Mavis and everyone blame drac for lying. If you think about it more if she didn't listen to their conversation and if Johnny didn't know this whole thing wouldn't have happened. Now Mavis is acting like her own dad is the bad guy and is saying "it's your fault" when she was the one that started this so it's not really drac's fault for lying, or Johnny's to try to get into the family.
