The Hugh Grant character is the anti-man.

This is a phenomenon often portrayed in movies, but totally unrealistic.

Hugh Grant plays a character who he often plays --- a character who is not confident, not decisive, has no initiative or courage. But, women --- beautiful women keep falling in his lap.

In real life, this never happens. Men who are confident, decisive, have initiative and courage get all the girls.

Maybe ... unless in real life you are Hugh Grant! 

I don't know how serious you are being here TxMike. And I don't know how Hugh Grant is in real life. But, I do know he is rich and famous. The character he plays in this movie is not. And that makes a big difference with the ladies.

I wasn't being very serious. You are a "movie liker" so I would expect you to realize that movies like this one are not made to be "realistic" because most of us watch movies to leave realism behind for a couple of hours. I ask you to think of your favorite movies, are all them completely "realistic" ?

I guess you are talking about romantic comedies. Because I can think of some good movies that are realistic; Nightcrawler, Still Alice, Big Eyes; for example.

I agree, most romantic comedies are somewhat unrealistic. But there is no reason they have to be. I think a really good rom/com would be realistic. Because romance is real.

Last, but not least, I thought this movie was good. I am not saying Hugh Grant ruined this movie. I gave it a 7.

I was only making an observation.

Same thing happened to Grant in "Notting Hill" when Julia Roberts asked him to love her! 
