Karen...
Only an idiot would let her go... what a stunner. Youth is not a terminal illness.
shareThank you! She was absolutely breath taking and looked so angelic. I loved her luminous fair skin! It's a shame that rare beauties like her in Hollywood and in life in general go unnoticed or discarded for not looking exotic or not having the tan or large assets. I can't remember the last time I saw someone that angelically beautiful. I hope to see the actress more in the future.
shareHe didn't exactly let her go. He didn't stick up for her drinking illegally, using fake ID, and putting the job of another student at risk when she was raising two kids on her own and working two jobs. The fine for that can be hugely devestating including the loss of that job and inability to find another. Something a 19 year old looking for a good time doesn't comprehend.
She left him because of that. They were in two different points of life and not too good together. He did make her a better screenwrite, though. And the actress is beautiful.
Watching the scene now in the restaurant. She behaved like a total immature brat. Two adults could lose their jobs (he for sleeping with her, Holly for serving her a drink.) An adult would know and appreciate that.
sharePiggy backing on my last comment- I'm up to the classroom scene. Not only is she a brat but a bitchy, vindictive brat as well.
She's very immature. She's supposed to be like that though. Probably about 19 years old, maybe 20. He knew what he was getting into, however. If he was truly attracted to her, even for just the sex, he could have waited for the semester to end first. He was too easily talked into that relationship. At her age she is partly responsible for what happened and should have felt pressure about it as much as he, but we live in a double standard society.
shareBut she was only in the relationship because she had unresolved father issues. She had been dating other father figure types. As long as those issues were around she would eventually move on to find another father figure as soon as he tried to be on an equal level with her.
shareShe was childish and lousy with emotional issues. Not someone you want to be involved with long-term. At all.
When people get older than 20 or so they realize that there's more to making a good relationship than being pretty.
She was beautiful yes but everything she did just reinforced how childish she was. She basically threw temper tantrums, bullied Keith into staying with her (knowing quite well what would happen to him if their relationship was discovered), and was an all out brat when he broke things off.
shareI never liked her character but the last straw was the question she asked Hugh's in the class mentioning his failures.
