Martin Sheen and abortion (spoilers)

I found this very interesting when she went to Martin Sheen's character and discussed her wanting to get an abortion. In real life, Martin Sheen is virulently anti-abortion, as he is an extremely faithful Catholic. He marches against abortion with white clothes splattered with deep red blood with and people carrying large crosses.

As a result, I was very curious to see which way the movie was gonna go at the end. I thought for sure, he would never be in a movie where the main character got an abortion, so I was expecting a completely different ending. On the other hand, if she had gone through with the abortion, I would surely have tipped my hat to him, as the movie would have gone completely against his ideals, but at least he would have gotten a platform to partially spout his beliefs.

The ending itself was neither, and I felt robbed, both by not finding out what happened to her, and by the presentation that the whole story was supposed to be real. How bogus.

I was very bothered by his statement that no one ever regretted having a child. What a ridiculous, broad, incorrect statement. But what else would I expect from someone so biased in his beliefs? Is some of that blood on his clothing from all the women who have killed themselves self aborting (this is happening now, here in the United States and throughout the world). I almost turned off the movie at this point, but decided to finish it. I'm glad I did. It was very thought provoking.

I agree, it was a line that should've been clipped from the movie because I know several people who regretted having kids.
