That would have been a more appropriate title, and then I would have known that I was just watching a film about a girl sleeping around and being an idiot. Oh, but boo hoo, she realized she was molested, so that makes all her whoring okay, right? I don't think so. I really expected her to screw Martin Sheen as well, and her stepfather, was very surprised that it didn't happen, but maybe those scenes were cut.

What a great, inspirational film for young girls!
Having 3 boyfriends is perfectly fine, as long as you can balance them and make sure their fiance or wife doesn't find out, and it's okay if you get pregnant, because Martin Sheen will very creepily adopt your child.

You're angry at someone, perhaps the filmmakers, but you seem to lack focus in your little diatribe. It just smacks of old-fashioned misogyny.

I'm sorry if someone cheated on you or broke your heart, but I'm not sure if you are finding the most healthy way to channel it.

I knew a few people (all but one were female) who could have been a composite that Katie was based on growing up. This was not meant to be a feel-good movie, of course, but there was dramatic construct that easily attained suspension-of-disbelief and more importantly, there are people still talking about the film's events and open ending.

Not one of my favorite films, but it made me reflect and it brought me here. There are people leading lives like this, and even as a work of fiction it depicts the gritty reality facing young people. Even people with better coping mechanisms and support structures are felled everyday by one tiny mistake. I've lost friends that should've zagged when they zigged? and that's solataire. They are not here anymore to tell their stories and live on only as long as their names are whispered by mortal men.

So relax, man. Things go pear-shaped sometimes.

It's 2015. It's time to let go of this repressed victorian sanctimony. Calling a sexually active girl a "slut" is completely baseless and makes you look like a knuckle-dragging neanderthol. If you ever want a relationship with a woman you need to learn to think of them as people, and not classify them into archaic "madonna/whore" buckets.

Movies are IQ tests; the IMDB boards are how people broadcast their score.

Just out of curiousity did they really use the terms slut and whore in the Victorian era? I use the term whore for lots of things. As I said below I am a horror movie whore.

The OP meant it in a bad way but really it just means to me that a person is heavily into something. Now slut is a different story.

Well calling her sexually active is way too nice. To me she did behave slutty because she cheated and didn't even care. And if she actually slept with her boss that was a real *beep* move against the wife as they were friends. So yeah, I don't think a person deserves to be called a slut just 'cause they're "sexually active" but cheating and stuff, that's a slut in book.

Excuse me, Little Miss Smartass, but I will refer to a teenage girl being in multiple relationships at once and sleeping with 3 different guys unknown to each other as a downright slut, there is no other word for that.

Everything this character did was the very definition of a slut, so I don't think my comment was baseless at all.

I hate that excuse. As someone who was molested (and the complete opposite of that) I find it very sad. Nobody should ever be whoring around, whether male or female, with other people's partners. imo.

I guess it can be one result of molestation, possibly, but we all get to make choices. Cheating is a choice. Not something you cannot help.

As a person with a father and a husband who both cheated I find it appalling. My current guy would never do that. He is amazing and honest.

To brush off that behavior as acceptable - is an insult to those MEN AND WOMEN who are upstanding and honest and noble supporters of their families.

I don't care how modern our times are. Infidelity is cruel and selfish. Just man up and be honest. Break up and move on. Especially if you have children. And have some damn self respect for god's sake.

EDIT: I know the word whore is politically incorrect. But let's not get all serious here. It's just a term. I am a video game whore and horror movie whore myself.

Yeah, a lot of people here act like they'd rather find out their kids are out going on killing sprees than find out their kids are having sex. I think it's just something that's drilled into their heads so much that they don't even realize how stupid it is. Is it completely different outside of America?

I see a lot of females interestingly take offense to that term in here. I wonder why. :p It's funny women don't mind all the preferential treatment and benefits they get of all the other double standards, they just have to zone in on a whopping one double standard that goes against their wanting to whore it up.

The interesting ending of this movie really calls into question whether ANY of her "confessions" were really true to begin with. But even if you take everything at face value. . .

Teenage girls often have sex. Some of them are kinda pretty and I have fond memories of having sex with girls like that when I was younger, and I sometimes still want to a little bit, but I don't because it's immoral, illegal, and just too damn ridiculous at my age. Still, I take RESPONSIBILITY for that. I don't call them "sluts" I just because I can't deal with my own lingering lustful feelings for them. Two of the guys she sleeps with are supposedly responsible adults who have COMMITTED themselves to others, so why pick on the young girl here?

It's also worth noting that twenty-something Britt Robertson is just positively stunning and it's not surprising anyone with a working dick can't resist her, but when they show the "real" girl at the end, she's more of an average looking teenager. There's a real interesting interplay here between fantasy and reality, and I think it's the people that can't tell the DIFFERENCE between the two that tend to get all weird, bitter, and judgmental like this. You just really missed the point of this movie and I think you might be missing the point of life. . .

At what point did this movie ever present itself as inspiration for young girls? Definitely not the goal here...
