Season Finale was Amazing! *Spoilers*
It took me a while to process it all...
1. I am absolutely amazed when it comes to Jean. I have been struggling with her character since the beginning, whether I like her or not, whether I care about her. I can solidly say she is my second favorite character on the show, and not because I like her, but because I am completely terrified of her and the constant push and pull. It's like she and Phillip are racing to see who is the deadliest. Three times, three times now, this woman has left someone for dead and it is only this time that she did it completely sane and it was family.
2. Phillip (my favorite character) showed his multifaceted nature in this one. Protective big brother, buddy cop, murderer, loving son.... I was speechless for twenty minutes after watching him balling over his mom, right after watching him stab a man in the heart. It's official: I can't watch JM cry, I can't handle it.
3. Harold (third favorite) really showed up too. I really love his scenes in the precinct and with his daughters. He is not the Harold we knew from last season. He is not excused AT ALL, but he is making a difference and trying to be better. I wonder how long that'll last when Sky sues the city next season lol
4. I will NOT be happy if Chief Marie dies. You hear me Aaron Guzi?!
Finally, the writing in this show is unbelievable. I believe Aaron Guzikowsky has the credit for the finale, but the writing room must be a treasure trove. My emotions were all over the place. The pacing was impeccable - we spent time with each major character, even Jack's conversation with Marie was well-played and heartbreaking. It foreshadowed the closing image.
Amazing.
