Spoiler Alert***** Director / Writer Quasi-envy Black Fantasy?

Maj-id is an unbeatable boxer, thug, thief, henchman and lover.

The Director, is also the screenwriter of this film. (please keep this in mind) Which makes one wonder if there's any latent quasi-envy issues in his social-political p.o.v. towards black men. Read on, then watch the film.

The progression of the story and the plight of the main character Maj-id (Moroccan descent) seems woefully preoccupied with race and acceptance. This meme is repeated over and over to a point of .. (see last sentence of this review) Maj-id is unbeatable boxer, street thief, thug and henchman and lover. He even hits his girlfriend. She befriends a black man and Maj-id loses it.(which the writer refers to black men as monkeys or jungle commando) The girlfriend is sexually turned on and wants to know what its like to beat a man to a pulp.

Maj-id is an unbeatable boxer, thug, thief, henchman and lover. Even with full swing baton hits to the stomach and to a seemingly broken hand. You must understand that Maj-id is an unbeatable boxer, street thief, thug, henchman and lover.

Stereotypical fantasy writing. You see, the film's setting is in the Netherlands, though there's hardly any Dutch people in the film. The writer/director solely uses black people in this story to juxtapose Maj-id's thuggish activities, or beats them to a pulp to prove his skills as a boxer.

Realistically if Maj-id's world of organized crime involved dealing with Dutch people, .. well, then Maj-id and his gang would be likely referred to as monkeys. Hence the writing and casting decisions.

This portrait of Maj-id suggests he's not black, he's Moroccan ... and he's just filled with rage. Why? You'll never find out. It's not important. What seems important to the writer/director is to have Maj-id head butt his 70 year old father (yes, the same father who has 12 year old son) .. in the hospital after his brother dies.

This same portrait of Maj-id displays him with an enormous gold tooth and matching gold chain. Cue rap music. Yes, there's scenes in which he robs and vandalizes while rap music is blaring. But, he's not black, he's Moroccan.

Maj-id is an unbeatable boxer, thug, thief, henchman and lover. He hits women, head butts his 70 year old father and can beat a world champion boxer .. even if his ribs are busted and his hand is broken.

What was the director thinking? Watch the film.

You sound mentally ill- if I were you I'd honestly seek out a medical opinion.

This is a FILM, a story- a fiction. It is 'hyper-real', cliched and stylised because that is what time has proven works with this kind of genre story-telling. The 'writer', you idiot, doesn't refer to 'black' men as anything. His characters do, reflected an audience understanding of how such people might behave in real-life.

The irony, of course, is that the film addresses the issue of such casual 'racism' (although nothing in this movie proves that our 'hero' is a real racist) with the scene where the Turkish mafia boss relates to the 'hero' the story of his childhood, and the REAL racism against Turkish people that ended the relationship with his friend.

As gangster movies go, Wolf was refreshing in its UNWILLINGNESS to create synthetic audience sympathy for Majid and his group. Integration, NOT racism, is another theme of this film, as characters (mostly criminals) from differing ethnic backgrounds are shown as co-existing quite happily. They only fight one another when real (or perceived) insults are deemed to have 'crossed the line'- the standard rules of the thug community.

PS 'jungle commando' is not a racist insult. It refers to people who fought 'white' rule in Africa (especially in the hyper-racist South Africa and neighbouring nations), when Britain, America, Israel, France and the Netherlands were giving every military assistance to the neo-Nazi thugs they had placed in power there, so self-rule by the majority black population would be prevented. For every 'white' person that died in these struggles in Africa, thousands of 'black' people were slaughtered, especially women and children.

The Soviet Union (especially Cuba) attempted to give military training and assistance to the 'black' freedom fighters, and today many of these 'veterans' are now high ranking leaders of various African governments. Others (like the character in this film) choose to live in the ex-colonial homelands.

'roxysands', you clearly know nothing about anything, but have some sort of 'politically correct' blindness that causes you to spew the hatred you think you see in the work of others.

So where is the Asian gangs in this film? In the mix martial arts gym? In the slums? You're side stepping the writer/director's inability to convey a story without social/economic/racial cliches.

Option A.
eliminate the blacks from the film and you have (male lead) a wanna be (thug) tough guy. However you have a problem gauging and presenting to the audience just how tough he is, have him beat up black guys, just like the Rocky films ... so predictable. Otherwise without black guys in this film, he's just another scummy thug. So the writer/director (who wrote this crap) decides to use a caste system.

Admit it there was no other use for blacks in this film. They were just a token symbol to vent against and intolerance.

Breathe, just breathe ... okay okay , easy now ... that's it. You're doing good.
Now, I have some bad news .. you're wrong.

And stop calling people with different opinions "tool" , You've done that several times on other posts and it's not cool. Name calling only proves my point.

Remember, the moment you resort to name calling, .. the debate is over.

And people will have opinions different from yours.

In times of stress, remember just breathe .. think of "Frozen" .. Let it go.
