Too Dumb to be Good

This movie takes the "all in your head" trope to absurd levels. After watching the video of the young girl being murdered and being asked to investigate, the police chief replies with the equivalent of "What am I? A cop?" The boyfriend and the male friend both write of the experience with comments like "Eh, it's the Internet. What are you gonna do?" The grant committee at the university pulls her grant money, because it seems completely plausible to them that she would have e-mailed them her own sex video.

I understand cynicism. I don't understand cynicism to this degree. Humanity cannot be as pigheaded as every character in this movie was.
