Slow starter but Refreshing. WATCH

I saw this one for a lark, without really expecting to last more than 30 mins (yeah Justin Long has that effect on me). Good thing I did.

The Lookalike starts somewhat disjointed and more than annoyingly slow. It livens up a lot with some interesting character development, heaps of human vulnerability and disregard for conventional movielines where scripts are predictable. The pace heats up significantly after 35 mins and it manages to pull of a good combination of crime thriller with romance drama - not an easy combination at all.

The end is beautiful and memorable and its surprising how many messages this otherwise underrated flick is able to pull off.

Most definitely worth a watch

Sorry I just thought this was one of the more ridiculous movies I've seen recently. It didn't seem to know what sort of film it wanted to be. Initially it seems to have pretentions to be some sort of black comedy with an important character killed by a falling chandelier of all things. But there is precious little humour after that, discounting the beautiful suicidal central character, who has terminal cancer, is stone deaf, but lip reads well, has a wooden leg (why, I don't really know, it's not vital to the plot), likes to bonk like a rabbit and play dress-ups. If "zany" characters such as this are your bag, you may wish to indulge, but for me this film is very, very ordinary.🐭
