What happened to Swamp Thing? (spoilers)

After his human side gets pulled out of him, what happens to him? Can't find anything online talking about it.

Well in this animation he appears to die, I don't know anything about the character other than in this so maybe someone who knows more about the character can give a better explanation

To make a great film you need three things - the script, the script and the script -Alfred Hitchcock

I think in the comics they say Swamp Thing is not Dr. Alec Holland but a plant that is trying to be Dr. Alec Holland which I would say is the case here, so he would still be alive. I didn't think Holland's corpse was inside ST, I don't know if that was in the comics as well, it was an interesting take though. Even though I thought Swamp Thing was the weakest part of the film I am hoping for a sequel where he returns. I would love a ST stand-alone film or even a 40 min short but Im sure that's not probable.

Swamp Thing was ripped out his human form. It seems that version of Swamp Thing is based on the Len Wein 70s Swamp Thing comics where Alec Holland mutated into the Swamp Thing.

Alan Moore revamped Swamp Thing in the 80s where Swampy has the mind of Holland.

That could still be the case here where Swamp Thing may not have yet had that revelation about himself and his nature.

You could be right.

According to Constatine the corpse was "taken to be the most recent avatar of the Green".

Which really limits Swamp Thing's power if you ask me. Part of the point of the magic Swamp Thing is he's not someone you can just take out permanently with a bazooka or whatever. Even the second movie got that right, he reformed from sludge coming in through the plumbing!

Len Wein's Swamp Thing wasn't a mutant. His burning body was covered in his super-vegetation-growth formula so when he died after diving into the swamp the formula caused the vegetation to basically replace his tissues until he was an entirely different organism but with the mind preserved.

Alan Moore changed that so the tissues weren't replaced, the avatar just got the dead man's memories.

I know thats why I said "mutated into the Swamp Thing", not that he's literally a mutant. The freak accident physically changed him into a mock-encrusted mockery of a man.

Yes, I know that. I said above that in Alan Moore's version, Swamp Thing has the mind of Alec Holland.
