Ive seen my share of savage brutallity on film....

** SPOILER ALERT ****

But oh man....that scalping and cutting in half scene...was over the top. Im not sure if Ive become softer with time, but it was as brutal as it can get. Pretty shocking scene, interesting movie to say the least. The slow, worrysome pace, everything.

Don't watch Green Inferno

reply

Right.. Green inferno scared me.. ?

reply

That's the thing. Green Inferno was so bad, that all that violence was laughable.

In here was brutal and shocking.

Your lies have killed more men in a day than i have in a lifetime. --CSM--

All about context. It was effing shocking and totally out of place, as in wtf would you show that kind of raw brutality at this point in the movie?! Or at all for that matter. First time ever I'll self censured a movie if I ever watch it again, that specific part that is.

I felt assaulted like this was when watching The Snowtown Murders, torture scene is unbearable. Videodrome effed me up bad too but that's because I was stupid enough, at 12 years old, to sneak into the theatre out of curiosity.

Other than that Bone Tomahawk has some brilliant moments, director's definitely insightful and talented. Just tame it a bit next time.

Hmmm, none of you seem to "get around much". Watch 2007's French "Martyrs" and then toss your cookies.

reply

Heck i never expected that level of violence in this, i guess same thing happened to you. If that happened in saw or hostel we wouldn't be this surprised.

reply

I was a little ill after that scene. I wasn't expecting it. The rest of the movie I was totally ok with

reply

You have not seen your fair share of savage brutality on film then.

reply

Watch Irreversible if you haven't

"It's All in the Game."

Saw Martyrs already; the other 2 are pending, yeah...

Serbian film is disturbing because it feels seedy, like an Eastern European porno with a barely willing prostitute - but then, I think that's the point.

reply

I completely agree with you. It was totally unexpected and shocking!!! I think I will not be able to sleep tonight.

I've seen a lot of gore in film. I've watched all kinds of terrible torture porn and dismemberment in movies. I don't like it, but it usually doesn't bother me.

I had to look away from that scene. I've never done that ever. I've split an animal like that when butchering, I've pulled grouses in half to separate the skin while they were still warm. I've held a cup for my daughter to vomit blood into it as we were speeding to the ER. I've done self surgery for injuries and debrided wounds.

That scene is intense. I love this movie for the boring parts. I still look away at the gruesome parts.

Again, throwing a full kids cup of blood out the window while my wife was driving didn't upset me at all. Didn't even phase me. I knew she'd be fine and that's my own kid.

That scene is brilliant. Hours of quiet followed by horror.

It was meant to seal the deal on showing how this bunch of characters walked into something way out of their depth, something beyond what they had imagined as they set off to be heroes.
I'd say it succeeded.
