Take note, authors of our future textbooks; in addition to selling sufficiently gullible readers on "intelligent design" as a theory undergirded by so much as an iota of empirical evidence, you've now also been saddled with the herculean quest of digging up the few Antebellum slaveholders who voluntarily cut the plantation's chattel loose in lieu of the United States Army doing so in their stead, then hailing these outlier supplicants as "heroes".


This is made all the more outrageous by David Simon's unabated and oft repeated penchant for flagrant hoodwinking of hopelessly unaware audiences, to say nothing of the widespread failure(refusal?)of nearly every outside observer to call him out on chicanery so brazen:
