They stood in the living room yelling at each other as a kind of game. RIGHIT no reason to stop that. Oh, right there is.

My thoughts exactly. Nothing annoys me more than moms who stand there doing nothing while their kids act up. Then her remark how she just tunes it out. No excuse for them behaving like that. No excuse for a mom to act like that either.
Sadly I know plenty of parents like this. One of many sister inlaws sat talking while her son beat up his sister on the stairs. The whole family heard her scream and two my kids came running her telling her what was happening. She waved her hand like she was annoyed at them and her daughter screamed in pain. Other adults had to step in to stop the fight. She kept chatting away like she didn't hear them. Her daughter came in crying and she waved her away too. She too said she tunes out their fights. It was me who comforted my crying niece and my father in law who spanked my nephew.
