Subtitles on Netflix are MURDEROUS-from a commercial pilot - please fix!
This is a super idea for a film, and to tell you the truth, I have only gotten one and a half minutes into the film and can't wait to watch it in entirety......but i gotta tell you, as a commercial pilot and certified flight instructor, i cannot bear the significant mistakes in the netflix subtitles. I am noticing a confusing mistake in, it seems like, every second phrase. You need to have someone re-translate this who is accustomed to speaking with air traffic controllers ASAP.
Briefly, below are just the first few mistakes i caught to give you an idea of the error frequency....again, i look forward to watching the rest of your film. Just wanted to alert filmmaker, so they can fix. Good luck! :)
netflix subtitle reads: "three to five miles north of Maine"
pilot actually says"three five miles" (meaning thirty five miles.)
neftlix subtitle reads: "I'm on the ground"
air traffic controller actually says"monitor ground." (short for "contact ground control.")
netflix reads: "contact on"
air traffic controller says "contact ground." (again short for "ground control.")
netflix says: "to stretch it"
pilot actually says: "discretion" ("descending at discretion" gives specific instructions/understanding in ATC communication)
netflix says: "enter-zero-three-one-five-zero"
weather comm actually says: "victor- zero-three-one-five-zulu" (meaning that specific zulu time of day AKA 3:05 Greenwich Mean Time)
netflix reads: "dust three niner "
weather comm actually says "gust three niner" meaning wind gusting to 39 knots
.....and this is where i stopped watching and started writing this post....
