Question (Spoilers)

Can someone please explain the car accident scene in as much detail as possible? I really didn't understand it.

It shows a guy getting out of the car and limping away as the cops arrive. Then, Carmilla approaches the door where a bloody woman comes out and crawls towards the forest. Carmilla picks up a flare and follows her, asking where she's going and then says "show me". Then we see a black cop, making me wonder if it's the same guy who was with Carmilla's mother, the one Carmilla said she knows all about.

Later, as Carmilla's dying, we see her lying down in both Laura's house, and in a parallel spiritual way at the scene of the car accident, where her mother is now holding the flare and saying she loves her. This shows there's some significance to the car accident, but I have no idea how to interpret it.

Was the woman crawling away from the car her mother? Is that where her mother meets the black guy? Why was that the setting chosen as the parallel spiritual location of Carmilla's death?

Can someone clarify all this for me? Thank you.
