Adam Sandler?

I came here hoping someone from behind the scenes would explain that Adam Sandler segment. He's funny and he seemed sincere, but his wardrobe was way off the mark and you could see his hands shaking as he held the paper where his remarks were written. The other performers had their lines on a teleprompter, was Sandler a last minute fill-in?
