sad

this might have been one of the saddest things, i have seen in my life. this was not really a tribute, eddie deserves better. the jokes from the guest were cheap and badly written. eddie was sitting there with a sad, almost bitter face. this was not a man who felt honored and really, how could he?

who even did come up with the idea? seriously. who thinks, that showing a guy that was once maybe the most successful black entertainers on the planet, but hasn't been successful for ages , no matter how hard he tries, his past achievements? how bad must he feel, watching snippets from his movies and standup routines, knowing that he won't ever reach 0.5% of that success again. also, if you have to do this, why not make it a 100% serious tribute? why would you pile up on top of this misery, all the people that eddie colaborated with in the past and make unfunny jokes, plus telling him how great he ONCE was and how much influence his FORMER self had on them.
and if that wasn't enough, some of those people are still successful or even worse, much more successful today than him. hell, even arsenio who is completely talentless, got more of a career today than eddie. not to speak of sandler and the other.

this was not tribute. it was a eulogy on the old, successful eddie murphy whom they gave a final salute to, before finally putting him to rest, after it has been dead for so many years. basically it was a funeral for eddies career, while he was still watching and being forced to look happy about it.

i dare you to watch the end again, where he is demanded to say the final words. look at his mimic, his gestures. hi kindly says thank you with his words, but his whole body throws at you: "how can you people even dare to do this to me? couldn't you wait until i am dead to take me to grave? fack you all. good night".

sad. very very sad.
