Cancelled

So, Sam & Cat has been cancelled. Honestly, can't say I'm surprised about that. For me, the first half of the season sucked. But lately, I think from about the Tuna Jump episode, it's actually been getting better.
But the characters really annoyed me - Goomer was just too stupid and clueless, Dice was also just odd but really cute. With Sam and Cat, I wanted their characters to be the same from iCarly and Victorious, so rough and mean, and cute and weird. But they just seemed like completely different characters at times.
I hope Dan Schneider redeems himself with another show that is actually worth watching religiously from the get go. :D

You do realize the show wasn't canceled because terrible episodes or ratings? It was all the drama between Jennette and Nick that stopped the production on the show. whatever the drama is, it's what caused the death on this show. although I'm pretty sure the stars of the show don't mind it gone. well maybe not the actors playing Dice, and Goomer, to them it's losing a job, but I doubt we've seen the last of those guys on Nick.

it had to do with Jennette McCurdy's salary demands and the racy pics that were released earlier this year...

It had nothing to do w/ Jennette's Racy Pics as Ariana put out a Music Video which was kinda racy the way it was shot The Music Video was for hit debut single "THE WAY" Feat. Mac Miller as Jennette's pics were later as she posted/leaked them as she was getting back at an EX. Plus I doubt it had to do w/ Salary demands also. It had to do w/ Nick like other Nets getting rid of a Good Show too early and keep crap like a retarded Sponge but cancel good shows like iCarly, Victorious, Sam/Cat, Hey Dude, Salute Your Shorts, RoundHouse when them were all getting good.

Yes, yes exactly! I only occasionally watched Sam and Cat, so I can't call myself a "faithful" viewer. But I agree about the descriptions of the characters. Dice, no little kid hustles - so to speak - like that. Gomer, what is wrong with that guy - did he get dropped on his head when he was born or something? Sam, we got most of the Sam Puckett from Icarly, but the version of Cat we got was after she became annoying on Victorious. Watch the first season of Victorious, when Cat had it together but it was just as if she had multiple personalities. The Cat in later seasons and here on S&C is like a freak'n five year old and annoying compared to what she was.

If the rumors are true, then perhaps it's better that the show is cancelled now. Shows where stars don't exactly, to be polite, get along and even possibly don't like each other often suffer and don't last long. But hey, regarding pay, what would Jenette expect? I'm sure Nickelodeon also has determined why folks are tuning in each weekend and it's likely not for Jenette. Every show has a breakout star and the network is always gonna make sure that individual is compensated more then the other actors that make up the cast primarly just so they'll stay. The job I hold (I work for a hotel), what I do as an auditor, and I do it extremely well and they know it, my hotel makes sure I'm more than compensated compared to my co-workers so I don't go to another property. I'm sure on ICarly Miranda Cosgrove made more than Jenette and the guys who played Freddie (Nathan Kress) and Spencer (Jerry Trainor) (and I had to look up that last one - talk about the draw of the show and it wasn't him). This is exactly why people employed together never, if ever, talk about the money they make compared to one another. It must've been a substantial difference if it was enough to cause a rift. Ariana I have to believe isn't gonna miss the show to much. Cause it allows her to mature, cause lets face it you can only act like your five years old for so long before it becomes detremental - ask the guys who played Pee Wee Herman or Urkle about how their characters followed them for years. With her singing career really beginning to take off, the cancellation pretty much makes mute the issue of when the show begins to interfere with her budding singing career. Nothing like having to work a tour around a season taping!

So goodbye Sam and Cat. Maybe you'll all be able to remain friends once the dust settles. Maybe you'll be able to move on to more mature careers...

I only checked it out for McCurdy but found Cat to be an absolute gem of a character, played pitch perfectly by Ariana who just inhabits the role. Sad to see it go.

reply

Thank God it's gone. It should've never existed in the first place. I just wish that there'd be more Victorious...maybe without Ariana, as she was really just a waste of screen time, anyway.

This show was a huge hit and was cancelled because Nickelodeon is stupid and didn't want to pay Jennette the same money that they were paying Ariana. The show is SAM and Cat, she should have been making just as much as Ariana and I'm glad she refused to continue with the show.

Let's be honest, it was canceled because there was no way ariana was going to re-up her contract for another season

and for all the talk in this thread about the show being a "hit" its ratings weren't THAT great (i mean it did well for a nick show at this time but everything's ratings tanked so thats not impressive) especially considering it had nick's biggest actress and a legitimate pop star starring in it plus numerous big guest appearances and only managed to do slightly better than average ratings for the time

considering how mediocre the ratings were i doubt they would have wanted to continue considering 1. increased production costs 2. increasing actor salaries and the fact that jennette wanted the same as ariana... both were probably already making a ton 3. dan is probably costing more than their average producer

i dont see them having been making all that much off this show considering how expensive it already was and with increasing costs going into S3 it probably didnt make much sense to renew (and thats if ariana was up to it)
