What is WRONG with Ariana's voice??

What is wrong w/Ariana's voice?! Just watched an episode of "Sam & Cat" for the first time and I can't take her awful, stupid-sounding voice! I can hardly understand what she's saying. I'm so surprised, bc I actually really like her two latest singles and pictured her completely differently. What a disappointment. This show is total garbage. I feel bad for Jeannette! Does Ariana's voice always sound like this or is she acting retarded just for the character? I REALLY cannot tell. Her acting is terrible, too.

It has nothing to do with her being sick. She is using an annoyingly fake voice. I couldn't make it through an entire episode. Horrible show and horrible voice.

It didn't start off that way on Victorious...they changed it as the show went on. Just was here actually to post about this interview with her. Ariana actually does her character's voice - and it sounds way more not like super high. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tTsSV0gbxGk

And her original voice and personality on Victorious was great. Why they changed it all beats me. They even got rid of her catchphrase.

No, her actual voice does not sound like that. She is acting as the character Cat. "Thanks" to Nick/Dan they flanderizing Cat and made her more stupid (although, she IS still smart enough to fool Sam with a trick and can put clues together, et al.) and more "out there". If you know what I mean.

Ariana's voice is nothing like Cat's. Cat is just a character she plays so the voice is fake. Look up her interviews where she uses her real voice. Try and look for her recent MTV appearance, for some reason her voice just sounds great and for anyone who has never heard her real voice, it'll weird you out when you do hear it.

No it is not her real voice. Everybody thinks that it is but no. Her real voice is super cute :)

Also just because you don't like a character, it doesn't mean the actor Is a bad actor. Ariana has done other much different characters. She was in Swindle fir example and I thought she did a great job

I don't see how anyone is shocked by the fact Ariana doesn't sound like Cat outside the show It's called acting you dummies. Alot of actors change their voice for roles.

You guys must have aneurysms everytime you hear a British actor that plays American use their real accent.

It's not even that, it's the fact that her voice sounds really odd. No one talks like that. Voice acting or not it sounds terrible.

I'm with you. I just happened upon this show today after falling asleep to a bunch of old Ren & Stimpy reruns on the Nick throwback channel and my immediate thought was does this character always talk like this? It's really distracting and off-putting. She makes it seems like she's suffering a mental disorder from some kind of traumatic episode.

Some character performances can work by going to a certain cartoonish over-the-top level but it just seemed like a very word choice. It would be like having a central character who randomly just made a honking noise in place of every third word they said.
