Question about the ending.... (Spoilers, duh!)

So at the end Gerri tells Amy to kill Charlie. But Charlie stabs the wooden stake into his own chest. That somehow affects Amy? Can someone explain why?

The explanation is that the original script writer had an accident, then they hired new script writers who subsequently also left, so then it was decided that the script would be written by naked mole-rats. We should consider ourselves lucky that it wasn't worse.

She was the virgin Gerry Dandridge was looking for. She needed to kill Charlie during the blood moon, but if she failed, she would die. However, it didn't make sense that she started to spoil even though Charlie missed his heart and didn't actually kill himself.
