No. This is not some art film with an erudite message. If you think "getting" this film makes you an intellectual, let me the four thousandth person to tell you you're not as smart as you think you are.
It's not your fault, though. The brain can't really conceive of anything greater than itself.
I know of a lot of films people didn't enjoy because the bulk of the film was over their heads. Then again, I know a lot of films made by people who fancy themselves "deep" and intelligent which are actually sophomoric. I don't know which makes me sadder for the world.
Movies are IQ tests; the IMDB boards are how people broadcast their score.
