Wouldn't the parents also be in therapy?

I hope that in the real world the parents would get therapy alone and also with the child.

Yeah, I wondered that too.

It also seemed to me that LeAnn should have been hospitalized longer, her behavior was semi-catatonic

That, for me, was a huge plot hole. How could they just send Leann home when she was mentally and emotionally stunted? You would think at least all three of them would have been taking therapy, and then Leann's therapist wasn't much help at all.

THANK YOU! MY THOUGHTS EXACTLY....

the whole time I was screaming... yeah right SHE just goes to therapy and sends her back hom to NORMALSVILLE... yeah like they have a handle on things so well and they are so adjusted and perfect that THEY dont need therapy... they got a handle on it!

when obviously they dont. they are just a broken as she is and have no clue how to healthily introduce her into her new life and how to handle it. one issue that I thought if they cant go to counseling for THEIR OWN mental health concerns then maybe they could to help deal with how to handle the sensitivity of their daughters feelings for her kidnapper- what to expect- what NOT to say to her... what NOT to do... like deprive her of her wanting to keep her old name, or ways of doing things, to not strip certain things away from her or forbid her from doing just because of the parents ego and anger over it. The counseling should help the parents see things from their daughters point of view and how hard this is on her.... and help them make decisions on whats in her best interest and how to adapt ,how to deal with those decisions/feelings... what to expect and how long progress should take and develop...just how to make the transition as painless as possible for the daughter.

Parents usually go "No you cant use your old name because HE the monster that stole you gave it to you" instead of viewing it in their daughters POV and realize thats all she knew and thats her identity and it will take time for her to love her new one and get settled... but because of the parents wants and needs "No I named you this and you are mine so from now on you'll answer to it!"

There is alot of psychological issues both are going through and everyone needs therapy. Seperate and together. It was quite weird they didnt do that.
