Vicar Oddie and the Small, Insignificant Plot-Hole...Maybe

So it's pretty insignificant but was anyone else just a bit bothered by the anti-rising/rotter grate placed on Vicar Oddie's coffin when, in S1E2, he insinuates a pretty strong belief in the second risers being righteous and what not? Why would you need a grate if you're going to be all righteous and what not and not tearing people's flesh off.

Anyway, still liked the series.
