In the Flesh has been cancelled!

Really bad news everyone, the show has been dropped by BBC Three! I'm so annoyed!

It's not entirely bad. The second season proved that the writers had nothing more to say. They had far too many episodes than they could handle and the story suffered. We should say goodbye while we have (fairly) fond memories of it.

reply

I don't know that lack of things to say and do was the problem. The writers admittedly struggled with pacing and balancing narrative and character developments over the course of the season. Perhaps short 3-4 episode runs are a better fit for their style.

reply

Netflix has said they may possibly pick it up

reply

Oh please let this be true!

Clark and Tess
My Smallville OTP!!!

reply

Well since they're interested I'd say it's a good possibility

reply

I enjoyed the first season, and thought the second season was dreadful.

reply

Agree. Six episodes was too long to drag the story out. They should have stopped after the first season really.

reply

agreed.

reply

That is so disappointing! It was a terrific show!

reply

The show was great as a mini-series (season 1)...

It kind of meandered and lost focus when it covered more ground in season 2...

There's plenty of other good shows still airing to watch. Sayonara.

Like what? Seriously I'm having a hard time finding great shows like ITF. They also cancelled Utopia, I'm a TV homeless right now.

reply

I feel your pain: I'm really grieving the loss of PARKS AND RECREATION, which just ended it's run last week.

Well...I can't really think of another show that would successfully substitute for ITF--it's conceit was pretty original unto itself. I'm watching a lot of other shows this Winter/Spring so I'm not hurting for content, but I don't know if they'd be what you're looking for or not.

The following might be the closest to a substitute:

ORPHAN BLACK - about clones, but it's better sci-fi and more entertaining than the moronic sci-fi you'll find on a channel like SyFy. Doesn't resume for another month or so, tho.

FORTITUDE - about a murder and other strange events in a small Norwegian town near the Arctic circle.

BATES MOTEL - isn't great, but it doesn't suck either. The performers really sell their roles and move it up a notch in quality.

THE AMERICANS - if you like spy shows at all, this is one of the best.

And these shows aren't everyone's cup of tea, but I like them, too:

THE WALKING DEAD - classic zombies, no meta-ness allowed. I respect that.

GAME OF THRONES - I only like swords and fantasy when the story is remarkable. This is.

BETTER CALL SAUL
TURN
GOTHAM
HOUSE OF CARDS

YES! Of those you mentioned, I'm a huge fan of Orphan Black, TWD and GOT. Also started watching Gotham but I have to catch up with the episodes. Many people have recommended me House of Cards so I think I'll give that one a try. I think Fortitude sounds alright. Thanks for the suggestions! I'm a widow of shows like Misfits, Being Human and The Fades, but I think after ITF there's nothing like these shows airing right now.

reply

There is a new show called 'izombie' there is only one episode out so far but i was impressed with its mix of humour and typical zombie stuff and there is also z-nation which i thought was very good also

reply

Yes! iZombie is funny, I guess I'll continue watching although I don't expect it to be as emotional and deep as ITF.

reply

I will miss ITF so much! I loved both seasons.

Check out these excellent zombie shows in a similar vein as ITF:

Les Revenants (France)
The Returned (the American version of Les Revenants)
Resurrection (USA)

reply

I already watched Les Revenants too! It was great and I'm waiting for S02. I haven't checked the remake yet because I've heard it's not so great. Resurrection I have seen only a little, is it worth it? It seems to me that Les Revenants make them all look pale in comparison.

I miss ITF so much I've been compulsively listening to Keaton Henson (and Daughter, because yay indie brit music that make perfect soundtracks).

reply

Oh, have you seen the 2004 movie Les Revenants? It's good, but with different characters and a different storyline.

I'm enjoying The Returned. It is exactly the same as Les Revenants, except it's American. It's been so long since I've seen Les Revenants, that I've forgotten a lot about it, so this is kind of like a rewatch. I don't know why there are years in between seasons, can't wait for season 2!

I really like Resurrection, definitely worth watching! It's based on a novel called The Returned.

There is also a 2013 Canadian zombie movie called The Returned, which is not connected to any of the other tv shows or movies. It's ok. You might like it.

Bad news, I liked it. Think of season two as a bonus.

Concur with comments on series 1 & 2.

Series 2 finished it off...
