Watch Gummo, Springbreakers, and Palo Alto all in that order

Impressive under appreciated trilogy. Franco took a lot from Harmony IMO and helped incorporate that into Gia's directing. Frankly I love all of these films and fans of any who haven't seen the others owe it to themselves to check em out.

springbreakers seriously? In the same sentence as gummo and palo alto?

reply

Spring Breakers stands as the best social commentary of the decade so far.

reply

Spring Break was garbage.

Or just watch Spring Breakers and be done with it. Gummo's good, Palo Alto is the worst film I've seen since Napoleon Dynamite. Absolutely brutal.

reply

Gummo and Spring Breakers are excellent, unique films. I thought this one was just kind of meh.

reply

I hated Gummo with a passion, but I liked Springbreakers the best of these, Palo Alto was just OK, good acting though.

"Franco took a lot from Harmony IMO and helped incorporate that into Gia's directing."

That's got to be one of the most ridiculous statements I've ever seen on this site. The sensitivity, attention to detail, and overall maturity of observation here by Gia is already far, far superior to anything Korine has ever, ever done. Why don't YOU go and watch these three films in row? (And don't get stoned or drunk before you do so either.) Then maybe you'll see what I mean. Franco had little to do with the final project, Gia totally ran with his original story and created her own vision here. This wasn't co-directed. Why don't you also go and watch the vast majority of her Grandfathers films, which are way, way more comparable to the directing here by Gia than anything Korine has ever touched, LMFAO. Trying to give some credit to Korine for a Coppola's directing style is simply crazy my friend. It makes zero sense at all.

"Impressive under appreciated trilogy" = Words of a delusional young man.

My body's a cage, it's been used and abused...and I...LIKE IT!! [Evil2]

LMFAO your an idiot. Franco wrote the story and certainly took note of Korine's complex and unique young characters caught up in dark realities. Youre delusional.

reply

I love all three films too.

I was really reminded of Gummo by the scene of Emily in the garden with Fred's voice over...
And all the different characters reminded me of Ken Park.
