I watched the first three episodes since I know Italian and must say it's very good. It's a old fashioned crime serie so don't expect any CSI standard fare, but just cops doing their job. The scientific element is almost completely absent, along with the action. Like I said, this is a old fashioned cop show. No explosions, no gunfire, just Jo and his team solving crimes by interrogating suspects, gathering clues and stalking the murderer

Pacing is good, actors are good (Reno is a guarantee, but Austen and Hennessy are also very good) and plots always have a little twist or two.

if I had to say something negative about this show, it would be that everything feels a bit trite. Characters are very typical, from the rugged, middle aged cop to the troubled daughter, from the unfunny trying to be funny nerd to the fierce young officer, from the no-nonsense captain (a woman) to the sarcastic coroner. We've already seen this a thousand times.

but I really like Jo. It's been ages since I've seen such a relaxing cop show, it's a breath of fresh air in a sea of crazy editing, absurd storylines and overmelodramatic scripts. Budget is big, actors are good, Paris is beautiful and stories are enthralling. Recommended

It started screening in South Africa last night: pretty good indeed. I almost didn't recognize Jill Hennessy who was glammed down to downright dowdy. Jean Reno is great ~ he's essentially playing his character from THE CRIMSON RIVERS, only more sadder, more older and much more wiser - and at one point in the episode, he pours his booze down the drain and throws his pills in the toilet, as if to say "I'm starting over."

Very good: the colour in the episode is almost non existent but it suits the visuals.

I will watch this again.

I liked you're thoughts.. Ever since Leon the Professional and Ronin, I've liked Jean Reno.
I found this to be a slow starter but it's really growing on me. Jill Hennesey is like a fine Burgundy growing better with age. She is an actress that compliments the other actors very well. They are all very competent, even thought the writing is fairly pedantic. It's a breath of fresh air not to have the " violent shaking camera" and over done special effects, blowing me back into my chair.
Give this show a chance. I hope you like it too!

I am in a quest for a serious cop show, but hollywood today only make freaky and funny ones like NCIS. Then I find Jo. It's spectacular. Just a serious and plain cop series!

With Internet, there is no exclusive country:

IMO, The dubbed Italian was better than the original in English. The reason being there were too many Americans or those with perfected US-accents for the location to have any authenticity. I understand the desire for universal appeal.....but UK-Wallander or even Zen does a better job.

I really like Jean Reno and Orla Brady.... so I will be watching series 2 in Italian. At least my Italian will improve *shrug*

Hi i wonder if you could give me ANY information about another Season/Series of Jo. I think it is one of the best crime shows ever produced. Currently 1channel offers 7 episodes and I would like to see more! Episode 6 with Sam Waterson highlights some of Waterson's best dramatic work. Yes, the show is a slow starter, but the character development is good and the quality of the players is high. I hope you give Jo a chance.

No it isn't. I really wanted to like this show, but with all the different accents, the rushed plot, and the stereo type cop characters it was a real let down. I won't be watching it again. Once was enough.
