I was expecting some noise to play in the background; but it was much better than that. It had character development! The actors could really act! The script, and particularly, the dialog was great. The tactics and strategy actually made sense in the movie and in the real world of small unit tactics. They actually explained how they had an 'anti-alien' round, how it worked and it made sense. (However, I doubt you could ever build up a 5.56x45mm rifle or round that much, a cal. .50 would work.) There were some superfluous plot twists–like why was the last replacement from Germany? Why did they call it a 'space defense force,' instead of the US/Canada/English/etc Army? (The concept that all earth armies could be combined into one is the most fantastical concept in the movie.)
Then came the ending. The code from the guy's eyelid was unbelievable. As was them driving up and just finding some strategic alien base, in plain sight, with only a couple of local convert guards. What happened inside the base and/or what the things where that flew off at the end really didn't make sense.
How did it end, anyway? Was that the defeat of the bad aliens? Or did it just spark another escalation by the aliens.
Despite these problems, I really liked this movie. Aft
