What happened to Brick?

So... everybody piles into the APC, the medic straggles behind to retrieve another one of those mind control implants but makes it on board just barely. The demolitionist blows up the base, they close the hatches and then... out of nowhere, Brick's head explodes for no apparent reason?!?

At first I thought he got hit by a sniper's bullet, but there was no hole in the vehicle.

Can anybody clue me in, please?

It looked like (to me) that he got sniped through one of the windows of the APC. Right after they set off the explosion, they show the other younger-looking black fellow sitting in front of the windows, and it looks like one of the Heavy's" blue fire blows through the window at a very shallow angle, as if the Heavy shot from somewhere in front of the APC. That's just my guess though, because TBH I have watched and re-watched that scene, and I still can't clearly see exactly what happened.

reply

Ok. I must have missed it.

That's the downside of documentary-style, I guess. You can't expect to have the camera adapt to whatever is happening at any given moment.

Yeah, the blue laser thingy hits the APC, and I guess the shock-wave or a splinter hits Brick (Brigg?) in the head.

My job is to watch stupid movies and complain about them on IMDB

reply

That makes more sense. Thanks.

Wondered about this myself. I heard the laser sound, but not where the heck it was supposed to come from or the shot actually hitting, it was suddenly just blammo, his head splurting blood all over the place. Given how destructive the heavy weapons were, you would've thought there'd be more to it. I guess they supposedly have multiple firing modes, then.

reply

Yeah they do have multiple modes. They have a charged splash damage mode and a more precise sniper blast type.

When they charge up to do the splash you hear a unique sound.

Why would the aliens want to kill him, if he were working for them?

That scene fulfills the inevitable "glorious soldier dies in combat" trope you could see coming after the character was first intro'd. You knew it was going to, had to, happen.

What happened to Brick?

He got laid.

Sorry couldn't resist.
