Trailer spoils everything?

I haven't seen the film yet, but I did not like the trailer. It looks interesting and maybe the movie will have some plot twists but I feel like the trailer gave away too much. I know a lot of trailers do this for some reason and I think often people would enjoy movies more without seeing the trailers, because they already know the entire plot before actually watching the film.
So are movie trailers giving away too much?

This is the reason why you should pretty much never watch any movie trailers.

I wholeheartedly agree. Seeing numerous brief scenes and hearing lines from throughout an entire movie is going to spoil any movie for me. I doubt anyone will enjoy a film to the same extent that they would have if everything was a complete surprise and they had not seen any spoilers from the trailer. I've grown to dislike trailers so much that I mute the TV and close my eyes when they come on haha.
