Hoult is good, the film... not so much
Far from charming, Kill Your Friends ends up little more than a noisy, indulgent, irritable bore. It’s a vulgar, unpleasant and viciously vile film that works too hard to be perspective and cheeky, and not hard enough to separate itself from its familiar peers. And that it goes out of its way to paint any character that’s not a white male as flat, broadly stereotypical or, worse, lamely sexist makes it all the more troublesome to stick with. It practically insists upon being as repugnant as possible, and without a point to do so, it becomes little more than a killer of any resemblance of good taste. So it shouldn’t expect to win any friends in the first place: http://www.cutprintfilm.com/reviews/kill-your-friends/
