Was not familiar with the stage show first

And I loved it. I've seen a few people on here saying if you aren't familiar with show prior you might not like it or appreciate it. I loved it. The music is great, I love how the story was told backwards and forwards, and I'll see Anna Kendrick in anything. I've watched the stage version online now and I enjoyed that one too. Just wanted to express a perspective from someone not familiar with it prior to seeing it.

Glad you enjoyed it. Did you know at all about the story going in two directions, before seeing it? If not, was it confusing at all (I know it has been for some folks, and I can imagine might have been for me, if I hadn't already known). Thanks!

Multiplex: 100+ shows a day, NONE worth watching. John Sayles' latest: NO distribution. SAD.

No I wasnt aware of that, but I picked up on it pretty quickly. I think most people will be able to get it after the first couple songs. It's actually kind of interesting and fun not knowing at first, because at first I was like wait what's going on, but then i pieced it together by "See I'm Smiling."

I knew nothing of the original either. I watched it because I like Jeremy Jordan. And I thought it was great. I liked the style of the film. How Jamie was going forward and Cathy backwards, how they met in the middle and then switched. It was great. And both Anna Kendrick and Jeremy Jordan were perfect in this.

It's kind of heart-breaking how their relationship didn't work out and how Jamie cheated. It's disappointing but definitely powerful.

I was skimming through videos with Anna Kendrick then I came across the scene See I'm Smiling. Just finished watching the movie and the few scenes that I already have seen separate came together. I watched the movie knowing that they had opposing timelines based on their perspectives, but only thought they'd end at the middle.

The whole idea of using differing timelines and perspectives is a very creative device for plot development, since I don't watch musicals often. Seeing all these sections to be put together, until you get punched in the face with the final blows.
