Time Travel Inconsistencies

In PA1 final act, we see Katie leave the room into a pitch black hallway headed downstairs. In PA:TMO however we witness Hector’s camera light bathing Katie, the entire stairs and part of the living room; the attic light is now on. This should have alerted the audience in PA1 of someone else in the house due to a bright light, whether demonic or human in nature. Hector then speaks to Katie but that may have or not been picked up by Micah’s camera.

If these two scenes would have matched up, it would have left an epic cliffhanger as to who was in the house at the end and if he/she, at the time, killed Micah or if Katie killed both. Years later the audience would have recognized Katie & Micah’s house after Hector’s time jump resulting in an "Oh $h|t! it was Hector in the house!" moment. This would have been a more satisfying discovery like in Final Destination 5 ending that took place just before the first movie (a lot assumed 5 was of the present day, then, but the cell phone technology told otherwise). In my opinion the writers are winging it and they need to wrap it up in the next film.

No no you're not getting it. Hector was NOT there when it happened back in 2006
We wouldn't hear him or see any evidence of him being there.
It's already happened when he travels back in time and witnesses it (again)
It's too hard to explain time travel here in detail. I don't feel like typing a few paragraphs about it.

You are correct, we wouldn't have seen Hector's light as he was not there and time traveled to witness the events unfold.

BUT the OP did pick up on what I saw as well, the attic light on, which was not on in the original. Minor screw up? Yeah, but still a screw up.

Now that I am thinking about it, there is no correct version of how time travel would/should in fact work. It would be the equivalent to discussing the topic of religion, there are no facts to bring to the table, only opinion.

The fact I can provide is the attic light, but that's nothing more than a continuity error. This thread never had a leg to stand on.

If you are seeing yourself standing in another room, you are definitely not fine

It was likely just an oversight (of very fine detail that most people would not observe). I for one was more interested in the story than observing technicalities.

I also prefer to think that Hector was there and scared Katie in the first movie as compared to an alternate reality; it just makes it much more interesting and ties the installments together much better.

Though it wouldn't really make sense for it to have actually happen in the same time in the original movie because Hector came from 2012 and was in 2006, I see it more as that Hector became apart of the events that lead to Micah's death and Katie screamed because the Demon wanted to lure Micah downstairs, not the same time-frame, they did get there via time portal, a separate reality to not affect the present but visit the past to aid Toby's plans somehow.
