Are you kidding me, this movie was amazing. Arguably the best in the whole series.

I don't know why people are so down on these movies. I'll agree that the 4th one was bad but that's about it. The others deserve at least a 7 IMO.

The only reason I waited so long to watch this is because of all the negativity surrounding it, but I loved it, especially that ending. So fed up with critics.

I agree. And it was really well-made.

And the thing I've noticed with comments re. modern-day horror/supernatural movies is that they mainly seem to be negative when there's no need to be.

This is why I avoid reading them. It seems certain people just want to be different by criticizing something for the sake of it.

Just enjoy the film.

I hope you learned your lesson, don’t worry about what other people think.

Ratings and reviews are highly overrated, and effectively, completely useless. Think about it this way: people who don’t like something will rarely not bother to waste more time on it by posting reviews and ratings. People who liked something might. So basically, other than professional critics who are being paid to do it, only people who really hated or really loved things will bother to post ratings and reviews, thus causing them to be heavily skewed.

Producers doesn’t bother with ratings and reviews (other than for promotional purposes); they do whatever they think will bring in the cash, regardless of feedback. So why should consumers be any different, if you like something, go for it, if not, then skip it. Don’t let others’ personal preferences influence you; your preferences are no less valid than theirs.

People have a huge grudge against the Paranormal Activity series now. The backlash was amazing. Since it made so much money and ended up being a huge pop culture phenomenon. We've been inundated with almost all horror movies being found footage and supernatural ever since. People always unfairly complain that it "ruined" the horror genre.

I think people hate this more just for being associated with the series rather than the film itself. I gave it a 7/10.
