Hilariously Bad..

So obvious and awful. I find myself giggling about all the literal Bible creationist claptrap they keep spouting on this show.

if you follow science or have any reason in your body, I suggest missing this show. It is a not very thinly veiled push for christian apologists.

The entire series makes no bones about the fact that some of the people in these stories were totally out for themselves, their own religious agendas or they were just plain bats**t crazy. The show is really about the obsessions and endeavors of individuals pursuing myths and legends for various reasons good, and bad. They should not have led with the Noahs Ark episode. It was not done well, and did sound like religious propaganda at first to me as well. It's a great show though, about human nature and how gullible, selfish or evil, we can be, but also how incredibly innovative and brilliant we as a species can be.

Completely agree with you. These stories really do say so much about humans and what people are will to do or suffer through to accomplish a goal, even when other people think they're crazy. Granted, it usually didn't pay off - most of these people died without finding their treasure or artifacts, but that's okay. I like hearing *true* stories like these, even if they don't have a happy ending. And hey - the guy who went looking for the Atocha (or whatever that sunken ship was called) totally found it!

And the religious episodes or to be expected. A lot of legendary artifacts have to do with religion, and therefore a lot of the episodes will have to do with religion. Season two had less religious episodes than season one, and so far season three has had hardly any.

Serious question - are people watching the same show?

Season 1 - 13 episodes, 5 on 'Christian themes', 8 on 'non-Christian themes'.
Season 2 - 13 episodes, 3 on 'Christian themes'*, 10 on 'non-Christian themes'.
*including an episode in which a forensics expert challenges the authenticity of one of France's holiest relics.

I can't comment on season 3 as not only is it's listing on IMDB incomplete, I'm not even sure if it is correct - it doesn't seem to relate to the episodes I have been watching in the UK recently.

The programme makers are not some bunch of right-wing Christian extremists - their other programmes have been about Nazi collaborators and air crashes.

I have to agree with the comments above that this is a programme about the obsessions that drive people to search for things that may or may not actually exist.

In the original broadcast order season 1 did not open with the programme about Noah's ark it opened with the episode about the Nazi's and the spear of destiny. The programme makers cannot be held responsible for the transmission order episodes are broadcast in - especially in other countries.

I think Noah's Ark is a Jewish parable from the Old testament.

reply

Both Noah's Ark and The Ark of the Covenant feature in the Christian Bible - I did say 'Christian themed'.
