What's the point of stopping these films?

First off I'll say I love these films. part of it is the mythology and part of it is they scare the *beep* out of me. I've read some of the spoilers (seeing it tonight at the ONE theater within 100 miles of me that's actually showing this film.) I just have one question: why stop making them?

They're made for practically peanuts and at least triple their money on opening weekend (however the numbers for this movie for this weekend will be interesting.) This movie is a cash-cow. Why not keep having cliffhangers to set up further movies?

This movie already feels like Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter where that was supposedly the last Jason movie only to spit out 1000 more.

Coming from a die-hard fan of the series, the mythology has to come to an end at some point. They should just end the franchise before they send Toby into space.

horcux - LOFL! Toby in space! They would, too.. you know they would!

In the year 2057, a crew went to the moon to investigate mysterious anomaly… their footage was found, but not them!

I mean, it frikkin writes itself!

Wasn't there a Friday the 13th movie that did that? Jason X, I think.

Because every movies follows the same pattern and they don't actually do anything interesting with the mythos. Paranormal Activity is a franchise with potential that's wasted on jump scares.

Also, the cgi in Ghost Dimension was just ridiculous. The ending itself was one gigantic loop hole. I'm saying this as a fan though. The films are fun for what they are. The real problem is that when it comes to supernatural horror the pickings are rather slim so you have to take what you can get. Same reason I tolerate The Walking Dead, but that's another discussion.

"Friday the 13th: Part VIII - Jason Takes Manhattan"
"Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers"
"Hellraiser: Revelations"
"A Nightmare on Elm Street 5: The Dream Child"
"Saw 3D"

I'm sure they'll stop once they get to The Spring Break Dimension.

Because with Ghost Dimension they've literally driven themselves into deep *beep* They need to stop simply because no one seems to understand what qualifies this franchise.

reply

Because they suck and hardly anyone cares about them anymore. There's only been one truly good movie in the entire series and that was the first. The 5 movies after that seriously could have been condensed in to one single movie.

reply

numbers are dropping off, so people are getting bored by them.

Plus they are repetitive.

reply

They need to stop because the last good horror movie that was rated less than R was
Poltergeist (1982). PG-13 "horror" movies are a load of crap, they try to replace blood and gore with jump scares and it just doesn't work. True horror fans recognize these types of films for what they are and pass the Paranormal Activity franchise and it's ilk by. This is just watered down horror for the same people who think the Twilight series are good vampire movies.

Well you people do cause you cant stop talking about it. Funny the people who say they hate them do the most talking about them. Funny thing eh!?? You say you hate it but you cant stop doing it. If they suck why waste your time talking about it then!??

Game Over!

I don't hate them. They're just boring. I only came on here to try to find spoilers to see if they actually tied all of the movies together. Which they didn't. It now feels like every single one of the sequels was pointless. Excuse me for actually liking a story.

I love these movies and I do feel like they have a story. The story of Katie and Kristi. If you don't like them then go on to things you do like. Sometimes people like to stay in the negativity of life and stay with things they hate so they can complain. Find movies you love and say how much you love them. I for one love these movies so when people are mean about them I don't like it.

Game Over!

The Marked Ones flopped and this one is flopping as well. With all the release dates changes this one had, you can notice the studio doesn't have much faith on it.

Budget $10Mio - BO ~$80Mio + DVD/Bluray/VoD etc.pp.

Nice flop for the studio^^ -> Not as successful as the first ones, but definitely not a flop. Compared to the budget it is still a huge success.
