Did Russell Kill the little monkey? {spoiler}

After he chopped off Lucy's head and then the scene showed hom carrying it out, it looked like he had the monkey's body in his hand.

No, he didn't. At the end when they go to that abandoned shed or w/e, the monkey was on the roof squaking (or w/e monkey's do) at them just before they entered.

He sets the monkey down beside the couch and that's the last we see of it. He doesn't kill it. The director even jokes in his commentary that when the killer leaves Lucy's apartment with "the bag", the monkey is left all alone to wonder who will will feed him. Having the killer cuddle the monkey before letting it go was just a cheap suspense ploy.
