Does Carla transfer the money (spoilers)

Don't read this if you haven't seen the movie.

Does Carla transfer the money to Dino's swiss bank account?

When Roberta and Serena get to Luca's house, the police have battered down the door. Is this because they got the tip that Luca had been driving, and he tried to kill himself after they tried to get into the house, or was Luca overcome by guilt and tried to kill himself, and the emergency responders had to break down the door to get in?

This latter theory is my wife's, and my question is: how come whoever called emergency services didn't let the responders in? So, there's that.

Any thoughts?

[primly] I don't know about war.

I think it's implied that Carla transferred the money and Dino gave the USB drive to the police. When Luca realized the police were at his door, he slashed his wrists.

my question is: how come whoever called emergency services didn't let the responders in?

Exactly, if his uncle had found him he would have let the police in.

You bring up a good point and what I believe is one of the film's plot weaknesses.

I thought it was ambiguous but that's not a bad thing. Clearly, Dino had strong reasons not to follow through on his offer: it would certainly ruin his relationship with his daughter and get her in trouble with the law for perjury and obstruction of justice. One way of deciding the question: could anyone tell whether Serena sees Luca at the end in the visitor area of a jail or a mental institution?

reply

I think it's a jail, in fact at the end it says he was sentenced for manslaughter and fleeing and will be released "in autumn". So little jail time because he's not an adult, he's only 17?

reply

I thought it was patently obvious.

reply

You're sort of an ass, aren't you?

reply

Why because I thought it was obvious? I'm deeply ashamed. 

wouldn't it be better to reject it?

It is not impossible that the uncle knocked on Luca's door, got no response & then called for help (w/o knocking the door down himself). Not impossible. But surely not the first chain of events that comes to mind with him. And who else would call?
