Spoliers: Why wasn't Serena convicted?

So, as i understand serena's dad ratted out luca and he gets busted. But why wasn't serena convicted for not disclosing the facts. The proof that he had originated form serena and it was inevitable that her name pops in during investigation.

reply

What Serena.s Dad did was illegal, it was extortion. Am I right? I was wondering about this.

We dont see what happens to her Dad; does he get arrested?

reply

He made the deal under the table. He sold out Luca in exchange of cash.
He would have been arrested if the police knew about that. But they didn't.

My question is why was Serena not arrested even though she disrupted justice and that would have been proven once her dad gave the proof to the police.

reply

You are right, Serena would be in trouble too.

But coming back to her Dad, you would think police would question him about the proof, wondering what his "gain" was in ratting out the guy. I mean it would appear suspicious.

PS: also, what was the kiss all about? Why did he want a kiss from this Virginia Madsen look alike anyway?

Was there a symbolism there? the "kiss of death" type of thing since he was ratting out someone?

reply

I think the kiss signified several things.

Sheer desire obviously.
Also a middle finger to the husband in some way.

The police wouldn't know that DINO had the evidence.

reply

I'm not an expert on Italy's laws, but could it be that she wasn't convicted for being underage? Or maybe DINO (now rich) hired a great lawyer?

Regardless, it should've been explained in the movie.

reply

She was not underage: in Italy you cannot drive if you are underage.

Also Dino says that he would give the evidence to the police.

I would also says that Serena should be in trouble, but think about it: she didn't says anything that was not true, she simply didn't say something.

reply

Probably lazy writing. I can't imagine Italian law accepting that if you technically didn't lie, you're okay. She didn't disclose information and the consequence could have been an innocent young man going to jail (Massimiliano).

But I imagine she would have gotten a short sentence anyway so it doesn't ruin the whole story for me.
