Diane Keaton's singing since Annie Hall

Did anyone see "Annie Hall"? SHe was a lounge singer in that movie who gets an album deal and moves to California. Her voice was very weak in that film, and it was hard to imagine she could get a gig, let alone an album.

In this movie her voice is noteably improved. I wonder if she has been working with vocal coaches.

In Annie Hall, maybe her character was supposed to have a weak voice. It's called ACTING. (but also I think her personal singing style is to sing softly, intentionally, and not because she's unable to sing any other way)

She won an academy award for that role. I do enjoy her singing style.

I don't think her voice was supposed to be weak in Annie Hall because she got a record deal in that movie with Paul Simon wonderfully playing a slimy producer.

I do enjoy her singing voice and style too, it's just so much better than what it used to be

Her singing is ok. But in this movie she is too weak and Oren mentions that.

As a lounge singer for 50+ audience, singing soft worked.

I thought her singing was painful, her patter weak, and she looked too old to be a lounge singer for any age group. It strained credulity that she would be hired when there are so much better singers around everywhere. The patrons would have walked out. I disagree that an older audience wants soft singing--not true at all.
If you look old, you have to at least look glamorous for that job, not drab, and have a lively stage personality.
However, I enjoyed her acting in the rest of the film, as well as that of Douglas, in an otherwise forgettable and stupid movie. Their strong personalities and talent are the only thing that kept it from fizzling out altogether..
